Murray Valley encephalitis is classified as a Group A condition by the Department of Health and as such requires immediate notification by telephone (1300 651 160) or fax (1300 651 170) upon initial diagnosis (presumptive or confirmed), followed by written notification within five days. If this test is urgent please contact the Medical Microbiologist on 03 9496 4640 or the Microbiology Department on 03 9496 5295. |
