Blood Components

Blood components are constituents of whole blood, separated, and used in replacement therapy. There are four main blood components: red blood cells, platelets, fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitate. Others include granulocytes and leucocytes but are used infrequently.

Blood Products - A.K.A Fractionated Plasma Products

Fractionated plasma products are medicines prepared from human plasma donations, collected from voluntary donors. These products are manufactured locally by CSL Biotherapies. Imported product is also available to meet local demand. Request for IVIG often requires specialist consultation.

Modified Blood Components

Blood components may be modified to meet the requirements of some clinical conditions.
